Optometry Giving Sight has initiated its “Light Up Their Eyes This Holiday Season” campaign as part of the group’s efforts to end preventable blindness and vision impairment around the world.

“We are so proud of — and grateful for — the progress we’ve made in our mission to end preventable blindness and vision impairment by creating long-term sustainable solutions where they are needed most,” Lois SchoenbrunCAE (Ret.)FAAO, Optometry Giving Sight executive director, North America, said in a press release from the organization. “But there is always more work to be done, and we can only do it with the help of donors. Every dollar counts.”

The donations fund programs that seek to develop and improve sustainable infrastructure, eye care professionals and vision care in the global community. Optometry Giving Sight has already provided more than $1.5 million in grants over the last 15 years that have supported training eye care professionals, provided eye care services and established vision centers and schools, according to the release.

In addition, the company acknowledged the importance of personal stories in their philanthropic journey.

“We hope that by showcasing the personal stories of those whose lives have been changed as a result of our support, people will be inspired to give during the holidays to this important and worthy cause,” Schoenbrun said in the release.
