Contrary to popular belief, San Antonio TV anchors, reporters, and personalities don’t have make-up artists or stylist. You won’t find them being pampered in studio chairs with an entourage of beauty specialists or a buffet table of croissants, fruits, and beverages like Hollywood A-listers onset of a movie.
Instead, they are tasked with finding that right shade of lipstick or perfect dress, pantsuit or what have you. Now, some of them are dishing on their best kept beauty secrets and how they get camera ready just in time for the local news.
KSAT 12’s Courtney Friedman reports during the week and anchors on the weekends. She says she likes to keep it simple when it comes to make up.

“When I’m anchoring I have much more time,” Friedman says. “When you’re reporting, you’re out in the field. You’re out in the elements. You need to redo your make up quickly and have products that you trust can stay on.”

For foundation, Friedman says she prefers the brand IL-MAKIAGE.
“They have this test online, and they color match you online,” Friedman says. “I loved it. It was the perfect color. I do this for my foundation and concealer.”
As for her skincare routine, Friedman’s go-to is a Korean brand called Saranghae which means “I love you” in Korean.
“I use toner, serum, eye cream and face cream and cleanser,” Friedman says. “It’s very light and it’s not hard on your skin. I have dry skin. I think the main thing is learning what’s best for your skin.”

“It’s like my best friend. I don’t go anywhere without it,” Friedman says. “It really keeps my face like matt and you can put it on top of make up. It’s clear powder that sets whatever is on your face, and it kind of takes away the shine.”
As for clothing, Friedman says she likes to wait for big sales of the year and shop at big department stores that carry a lot of brands like Dillard’s.
“I actually like more moderately priced things like New York in Company and White House Black Market,” she says. “I stay away from big patterns and big jewelry because it can be distracting. The one thing you don’t want to do on air is distract people from what you’re saying. I do a lot of solid colors.”
Aside from being on TV, Friedman also juggles mom life.

The 34-year-old credits a great team at KSAT and managers for allowing her the flexibility to be there for her family. She also finds moments for herself in managing her mental health.
“Yoga saved my life 10 years ago when I was struggling with my anxiety,” Friedman says. “I started doing that again just for my sanity. I think if you prioritize your health, then weight loss and looking your best comes naturally.”
